From September through December 2005 and the year 2006, mentorship research is being conducted in the
United States. By asking the six basic questions, "What is your definition of a mentor? Who do
you wish your ideal mentor to be? Has anyone mentored you? - If so, who, why and how? What area in your life could
you use a mentor? What tools and skills does a great mentor need to have? What area of your life can you become
a mentor to another?" Serenade will have the capability to service adults in mentor/mentee relationships.
Serenade's Matching Mentorship Program will commence sometime in 2006. Having the conversation regarding
adult mentors in the United States is crucial to the existance of many people acknowledging that they indeed have something
to contribute, and the hope it brings to so many that want a friend by their side. No longer does anyone have to
be courageous alone. No longer does one have to take on a "system"; whether it is fighting for much needed physical
or mental health, to having your court date dealing with a horrid landlord, to dealing with muggings, burglaries, robberies,
ransackings and the grief, anger, and sorrow it creates in a human being alone. Dealing with a sick child
parent and just don't know how to deal with it on your own? Dealing with a tricky divorce? Want to start
an unusual career? Want to start a hobby? All of these types of support and more will be available
through Serenade's Mentorship Program. This is the time for relationships. It is time for companions.
Various methods are to be used to collect the data. In Baltimore, Maryland, Portland, Oregon, and their prospective
regions people will be asked via film and audio recordings the above questions. The Serenade Mentorship Program
web site is available for anyone in the world to send their answers via e-mail.
Mentorship Gatherings are available to be duplicated to other parts of the country. Serenade is embarking on creating
a collective to finance a movie of the adult mentor movement it is creating. Please donate any technical equipment you
have or are willing to purchase. We are in need of tape recorders (standard cassette size), digital tape recorders,
all forms of cameras: still photograph, film, video, and digital. At this time, anyone who wants to contribute
to the Mentorship Gathering Film Project financially, please inquire by e-mailing mentorship@goserenade.org with the subject, "Finance Mentorship Gathering Project" for details.
